About Us

We are Tyler & Chelsea Turner. Born and raised in Northern Illinois. We both grew up with dogs. Chelsea started in the confirmation and obedience rings in 4H. Tyler casually duck hunted. The affinity begins before "us". It starts with Tyler and Cooper in 2014. We met in 2015, but Tyler didn't introduced Chelsea to duck hunting until the following year, 2016. He talked Chelsea into getting a German Wirehaired Pointer eariler that year so he could get into pheasant hunting. Rylynn was a purpose bred dog, but not a well bred dog. Chelsea left for PT school and unfortunately Rylynn didn't get the start she deserved. Drake entered our lives and was intended to show and hunt but only ended up a (damn good) part-time hunting dog and full-time couch potato. Drake introduced us to NAVHDA. We were engaged after a pheasant hunt in 2020. That year we started duck and goose hunting a few times per year in Arkansas. Tyler was introduced to the Wirehaired Vizsla by one of Drake's breeders, and next thing you know, Jana was imported from Germany. She is the first dog in our preservation breeding program. We married in 2021 have spent the falls and winters since on a dry goose field, in a  duck hole or roaming the fields of local game farms. Our son, Whitt, was born in May 2025. By day Tyler is an Electrician and Chelsea is a Physical Therapist. We live happily on the banks of the Piscasaw Creek.

Through trial and error, we have navigated and conquered the steep learning curve that comes with developing exceptional bird dogs. We are guided by the best friends and mentors in the industry. We are committed to protecting the integrity, temperament, structure and working ability of the breeds we have chosen to welcome into our family. Every pedigree has a legacy to uphold and every puppy represents our hard work and dedication. 

POWERFOWL

was born at the intersection of two callings — the precision and discipline of electrical contracting, and the instinct, drive, and heart of the bird dog. The name is a deliberate play on words. “Power” reflects the foundation of our roots in the electrical trade — craftsmanship, reliability, technical expertise, and the unseen force that brings systems to life. “Fowl” honors the upland fields and marshes, where purpose-bred dogs do what they were created to do. Together, POWERFOWL represents more than a clever name. It symbolizes energy with direction. Power with purpose. The current that runs through both our work and our dogs — structured, intentional, and built to perform. Just as a well-wired system depends on integrity and precision, a well-bred bird dog depends on thoughtful lineage, sound structure, steady temperament, and proven working ability. POWERFOWL embodies that parallel. We approach breeding the same way we approach our trade: with respect for the craft, attention to detail, and a commitment to building something that lasts. At its core, POWERFOWL is about legacy — channeling strength, honoring tradition, and producing dogs that thrive in the field and in the home.
